POST HOST™ Technical FAQ

1. Engineering & Wind Stability

What is the maximum wind rating?

The POST HOST™ system is engineered for high-resiliency in extreme conditions. Based on our Technical Brief (PE Certification Pending), our structural modeling indicates a calculated maximum wind velocity of ~95 MPH (bare rod) and ~48 MPH with a standard 20 lb hanging load. Even under a heavy 40 lb load, the system is modeled to maintain structural integrity in 43 MPH gusts.

How does it handle "Wind-Sway" and Rattle?
Unlike static hooks that suffer from "Broadside Drag," our 360-degree Low-Friction Swivel allows your hanging baskets to self-align with the wind (weather-vane), reducing lateral force by ~50%. To neutralize vibration fatigue, we’ve integrated internal gaskets that dampen wind-shear harmonics and eliminate the "rattle" common in sustained gusts.

Will the 12mm rod bend over time?
The POST HOST™ is engineered for superior wind resilience. We utilize a 12mm solid steel core rather than hollow tubing. With a stiffness factor (Moment of Inertia) significantly higher than consumer-grade hooks, the rod is designed to stay within its elastic limit under documented loads. Refer to our Calculated Wind Tolerance Matrix for specific weight-to-wind ratios.

2. Deck & Mounting Compatibility

Will this damage my expensive composite deck?
The POST HOST™ is designed to protect your deck’s aesthetic and structural integrity. By anchoring through the composite sleeve and directly into the structural pressure-treated post, we eliminate the "prying stress" and "crushing" that warps or cracks decorative railings. We even provide a custom-fit hole cap to seamlessly cover the opening if you choose to relocate the fixture.

Can it be mounted on masonry or stone?
Yes. Every POST HOST™ kit is a complete solution. We include specialized masonry anchors and the specific masonry drill bit required for installation on stone pillars, brick walls, or concrete patio surfaces.

What post sizes does it fit?
The system is precision-engineered to fit the two most common residential standards: 4" composite deck sleeves and 3.5" nominal pressure-treated posts. This dual-compatibility ensures a professional, plumb fit for the majority of premium railing systems.

3. Materials & Durability

Is it weather-resistant?
Yes. Every external component is finished with an Industrial-Grade Powder Coating. This provides superior resistance to UV rays, moisture, and salt air, ensuring the system remains a long-lasting, resilient part of your landscape.

Where is the steel sourced?
The 12mm solid steel shepherd hooks are sourced from an American Manufacturer, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship for the core of our system. The POST HOST™ mounting fixture is assembled in the USA from imported components.

4. Installation & Tools

What tools are included in the kit?
We provide a Professional Tool Suite with every order to ensure a "no-trip-to-the-hardware-store" experience. This includes:

  • Precision Drill Bits (Wood & Masonry)
  • Standard Hole-Saw (for post-cap integration)
  • Structural Wood Fasteners & Masonry Tapcons
  • Dual-Leveling System: (1) Magnetic Torpedo Level and (1) Surface Bubble Level.
